Lauren Ping, a junior at Desert Vista High, won her third straight Arizona Division 1 state title, covering the 5-kilometer layout in 17:39.4 at Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix. Ping led four Desert Vista athletes in the top six, but Highland had all five scorers in the top 12 to end the championship reign for the Thunder and capture the first team title in program history with a 38-45 victory.
