Highland seniors Caden Resendez, Ernest Green and Sam Green secured fifth, seventh and ninth in the 5-kilometer Division 1 boys final at the Arizona AIA state championship meet at Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix. Resendez clocked 15:51.1, Ernest Green ran 15:57.9 and Sam Green finished in 16:00.7 for the Hawks, who captured their first Division 1 crown since 2011 with a 39-65 victory over Desert Vista. Highland produced the second-fastest team time in course history, clocking 80:05 to trail only the 2013 Division 1 champion Corona del Sol lineup that clocked 79:50.
