Evelynne Carr, a sophomore at American Leadership Academy (Queen Creek), placed second in the Division 3 girls final at the Arizona AIA state championship meet at Crossroads Park in Gilbert. Carr covered the 5-kilometer course in 18:37.47, being edged out by sophomore Kylie Wild of Salpointe Catholic, who ran 18:37.27. Carr helped American Leadership finish fourth with 108 points.
