Terrence Keyes, a junior at Gilbert High, took third in the Division 2 boys final at the Arizona AIA state championship meet at Crossroads Park in Gilbert. Keyes covered the 5-kilometer course in 15:43.1 to lead five Gilbert scorers in the top 40 to capture the first state team title in program history, halting the five-year championship run of Flagstaff with a 77-92 victory. Gilbert improved from 13th place at last year's state final and its previous best finish was second place in Class 4A in 1977.
