Kayla O'Connell, a senior at Morenci High, won the Division 4 girls individual title at the Arizona AIA state championship meet at Crossroads Park in Gilbert. O'Connell covered the 5-kilometer course in 19:57.8 to become the first female athlete in program history to capture a state individual crown, improving from seventh place last season and 19th as a sophomore.
